Aminah Ricks is an urban planner, architect, writer, teacher and mother. In 2014, she launched Emerging City, an urban planning platform which engages invigorating thoughts on cities by the city-zens who form them. For over a decade she lived in Italy renovating and restoring historic villas and towers, managing construction crews while creating plans and designs. Back in the U.S. she’s a passionate advocate for walkable and bike-able cities.
She is certified by the American Concrete Institute and a member of the NYC Sustainability Educators Group. She earned degrees in Architecture and Building Engineering at the Università degli Studi di Roma Tre, in Italy and English Literature at Carleton College, in Minnesota.
Aminah is a lover of cities and has visited over 70 worldwide; she is fluent in Italian.
